Are you a fan of strawberry jam but wary of the excessive sugar content in most recipes? Look no further!
This yummy fresh strawberry freezer jam is low in sugar and incredibly simple. Trust me, even my husband can whip this up.
Why You’ll Love This Strawberry Jam Recipe
- Less Sugar: Traditional jams often call for a lot of sugar. This recipe uses just enough to enhance the natural sweetness of the strawberries.
- Quick and Easy: You don’t need to be a culinary expert to make this jam.
- It’s straightforward and takes very little time.
No Cooking Required: Unlike traditional jams, this freezer jam doesn’t need to be cooked, simplifying the process.
We have been out of strawberry jam for a few months, and my family is missing it. Crepes, cornbread, and peanut butter sandwiches aren’t the same without it.
We came across some deliciously sweet organic strawberries at Costco, so we’ve made several batches of strawberry jam and are now stocked up for the year.
If you’ve never made freezer jam, you are going to be pleasantly surprised how quick and easy it is to make.
I recommend using organic strawberries if you can.
STRAWBERY JAM INGREDIENTS
- 4 pints strawberries, cleaned, hulled, and crushed to make 4 cups
- 3 cups of sugar
- 1 package of Sure Jell Pectin For Less or No Sugar Needed Recipes
- 1 cup of water
STRAWBERRY JAM INSTRUCTIONS
1- Have glass or plastic containers ready to be filled. You will need six one-cup or three one-pint containers.
(I prefer to use one-cup glass jars because that way, the jam will be eaten before it goes bad in the fridge, and they are a good size to give as a little gift.
2-Prepare the fruit, crushing the berries with a potato masher, blender, or food processor. Blend until you like the consistency. (I prefer just slightly chunky to runny.)
This little strawberry stem remover is a game-changer when it comes to making strawberry jam!
It makes taking the stems out a snap.
3- Measure 4 cups of prepared fruit into a bowl.
4- Measure 3 cups of sugar into a large pan.
5- Stir one box of Sure-Jell for Less or No Sugar Needed Recipes Fruit Pectin into sugar.
6- Add 1 cup water and stir constantly over medium heat until the mixture reaches a boil.
7- Continue stirring and boil for one minute and remove from heat
8- Pour fruit into pectin/sugar mixture and stir until thoroughly mixed at least one minute.
9- Fill containers with mixed strawberry jam, leaving ½ inch of space at the top for expansion. (I love this little gadget for filling mason jars).
10- Take a clean cloth or paper towel and wipe off any strawberry jam drippings from the jar top.
11- Let stand at room temperature for 24 hours until set.
How long does freezer strawberry jam stay good?
