4 Benefits of Ending Your Showers Cold

Who would have thought that ending your showers cold could be a good thing?  For most people, a cold shower sounds like a nightmare  and very uncomfortable. It did to me at first, but after doing it for so many years and feeling the benefits, it’s just part of my morning ritual now.

So what is so great about ending your showers COLD?

1-Improves Circulation

Warm water makes the blood rush to your skin, and cool water makes the blood rush to your organs and glands. This switching between hot and cold triggers better circulation throughout your whole body, including the lymphatic system.

It prevents such problems as hypertension, hardening of the arteries, and the appearance of varicose veins, by circulation improvement.

COLD water stimulates blood flow to the CORE of the body, thus bringing FRESH blood to the organs and glands and ALL parts of the Body!

This means, OXYGEN & NUTRIENTS IN and TOXINS & PATHOGENS OUT!

2- Better Looking Skin

When you shower with warm water, it opens up the pores of your skin. So washing with warm water is good to cleanse the skin. Then after washing, it is a good idea to close the pores with cold water. Closing the pores will prevent the pores from being clogged with dirt and oil, therefore, preventing skin acne and other irritating skin conditions.

Cold water makes your blood vessels constrict which will reduce swelling and puffiness. Another one of my favorite ways to improve circulation and create healthy skin is by dry skin brushing.

3- Healthier Hair

When it comes to hair care, cold showers can make hair appear shinier, stronger, and healthier by flattening hair follicles. So let the cold water run over your head after washing.

4- Mental Benefits

Cold water energizes and invigorates your entire being with the essence of life.

In an article from PUBMED, they talk about the potential treatment for depression with cold showers.

Due to the high density of cold receptors in the skin, a cold shower is expected to send an overwhelming amount of electrical impulses from peripheral nerve endings to the brain, which could result in an anti-depressive effect.

Give it a try, you will definitely feel more alive! I love ending my showers cold because it gives me that same invigorating feeling of jumping in a cold running river, or jumping off the boat to get ready to water sky. You know what I’m talking about, right? It’s a little shock, but a good refreshing shock.

How do you go about ending your showers cold?

DON’T TORTURE YOURSELF.  Start with a level of cold water that you can deal with, and slowly make it colder. It is recommended to stay in the cold water from 30 seconds to 1 minute.

I find that if I start with cold water on the back and top of my head it is easier. Then after I’m used to it, I’ll turn around and let the water run down the front of my body, and then my face. Oh baby it feels so refreshing!

Make it a habit to end your shower COLD or at least COOL and enjoy your day my friend!
