In this upcycled sweaters class, I am going to:

  • show you how to choose the perfect sweater
  • teach you how to felt the sweater (shrink it down)
  • give you some awesome tips on how to store and care for your felted wool sweaters
  • help you know how to use your sweater fabric most effectively

After you take this class, you will be ready to dive into your first upcycled sweater project.

Money Friends – Rekindle Your Relationship With Money

money friends

What is your relationship with money?

  • Do you always have enough cash on hand?
  • Would you like to have MORE MONEY?
  • Do you just shove cash in your wallet?
  • Do you hate it or love it?

Several years ago I was introduced to Kirk Duncan from 3 Key Elements and have done several trainings with him. One of the things he teaches is that if you want to have more money, then it is up to you to sort out, clean out, clean up, and put in order all your thoughts and emotions about money.

He teaches a system called MONEY FRIENDS. I love it and want to share it with you.

In a previous post, I shared 5 steps to help clear limiting beliefs about money. They are:

  1. Be Aware

  2. Change Your Thoughts

  3. Change Your Talk

  4. Change Your Beliefs

  5. Reprogram Your Brain

If you have any LACK MENTALITY PROGRAMS running in your head, these programs are going to keep you from having money. Do you ever catch yourself thinking, or heaven forbid saying out loud “I don’t have enough money?” If you are thinking these thoughts or speaking these words out loud, that is exactly what you are going to experience, NOT ENOUGH MONEY. It’s time to get rid of those negative beliefs and rekindle your relationship with money. Having a set of MONEY FRIENDS in your wallet will help you take all 5 of these steps in clearing these limiting beliefs. That is why I love them!

What Are Money Friends?

Money friends are a little set of bills that you keep tucked in your wallet. The set includes one of each bill. A ONE, a TWO, a FIVE, a TEN, a TWENTY, a FIFTY, and a HUNDRED dollar bill. Now you don’t have to have a complete set right away, so just relax. That is something you can work up to if needs be.

How Do I Use Money Friends?

I started using this idea years ago with just a twenty dollar bill. In one of my sessions with Carol Tuttle, many years ago, she recommended I get a high value bill and keep it in my wallet. I wasn’t to spend it, unless I really needed it. It was there for me to KNOW, FEEL be able to say that I HAD MONEY. If I wanted something, I would know that if I really wanted it, I had enough to buy it. When I spent it, I would quickly replace it. I was very faithful about having that twenty or fifty dollar bill at hand. It really did help me be able to start feeling what it was like to HAVE  ENOUGH money. It really did help me change out of that pattern of lack mentality. I switched my thinking to “I always have money.”

Like Carol Tuttle’s recommendation, Kirk has you keep cash in your wallet but just a little more. Now I know some of you may be thinking that is a lot of cash to keep in your wallet, I know I did. I was worried about it getting stolen or lost. I have never had a problem with it and feel more secure having it in there than not.

Other Benefits

Besides the comfort of knowing I always have money, there is another benefit that I love about having some extra cash in my wallet, I always have cash to give to SOMEONE ELSE in need. I have had several opportunities when I saw a need and was able to reach into my wallet and slip someone a few bills, or even a BIG one.  How fun is that? Something I couldn’t have done before.

Another benefit of having a little extra cash on hand, is for those times when your debit card isn’t working or you forgot the checkbook. No need to panic, MONEY FRIENDS to the rescue!
You use the cash and replace it as soon as possible. It becomes like a little game.

money friends

Here are a few little tips:

  • Start with a dollar bill, if that is all the extra cash you have, and build up to a full set as soon as possible.
  • Neatly stack the bills in order and face the same way.
  • Fold the stack in half with the dollar bill on the outside. (That way it won’t be so obvious to those peering into your wallet that you are loaded).
  • Use a paper clip to keep them folded and secure.
  • I like to keep my stash behind my envelope tabs in the back of my wallet. Find a place in your wallet that is separate from all the other cash you have in your wallet. (Hopefully, you are using the cash envelope system)!
  • These guys are your FRIENDS. Touch them, look at them, take care of them. (Don’t just shove them in your wallet somewhere).
  • Use it when needed, then quickly replace it as soon as you can.
  • When you do use your money friends to help someone else, you will be amazed at how fast that money shows up again.

DIY: Hemming Pants And Shorts That Are Too Long

hemming pants

Here where I live, we are in the thick of the summer, and it is WARM. I decided I could use another pair of shorts. So instead of going out and buying a new pair, I took a pair of capris that I don’t wear much and cut them off. Hemming pants or shorts is really an easy sewing project. If you know how to sew a straight stitch, you got this!

While I was doing this, I thought I would bring you along for the ride. So here is a quick video tutorial.

Play Video

1- You Will Need

  • If you have a pair of shorts that you like the length of, use them as a length guide.
  • Pair of scissors
  • Pins
  • Chalk pencil, pen or regular pencil
  • Ruler or straight edge
  • Seam gauge or measuring tape
  • Sewing machine (Can be sewn by hand if you are familiar with the hem stitch)

2- Determine How Long You Want Your Shorts or Pants

  • Add 3/4 inch to the finished edge and mark with pencil.

3- Using the pencil and ruler, mark the cutting line.

4- Cut along line

5- Fold cut pant leg over the top of the uncut leg.

  • Line up the waistline, crotch seams and inseams.
  • Using the already cut leg as a pattern, cut the other pant leg.

6- Folding, pressing and pinning

7- Sewing

  • Using a straight stitch on the sewing machine, sew along the top edge (about 1/4 inches from the bottom edge)

8- Back stitch

9- Clip threads

Ta dah!

Save some money and see if you have any pants that you can transform into some COOL, perfect length shorts.

26 Day Detox – Day 26

26 day detox

It is DAY 26 of my 26 day detox and I am still alive! In fact, I feel better than I have in a very long time. It was NOT an easy task. It was 26 days full of cravings, emotions, determination, frustration, and exploration. I learned a lot of things about myself and my body.

I find it a little ironic that today is INDEPENDENCE DAY. I do feel free, not just because I am an American, or that I can start eating some familiar foods and sprinkle a little salt on my avocado, but I feel a sense of freedom because I am no longer going to let food be so controlling in my life. Before this detox, I would submit to cravings, eat emotionally and was afraid to go without. I learned that I don’t need so much protein, and that plant based foods can be quite sustainable and healing!

This morning I had a nice patriotic bowl of oatmeal with blueberries, raspberries and walnuts. This usually would not have sustained me, but it did today!

Were any of you fortunate enough to listen to any of the FOOD REVOLUTION SUMMIT that was hosted by John & Ocean Robbins a month ago? It was excellent. They interviewed many experts that really opened up my eyes in a way that really rang true to me and motivated me to eat more clean. These are guys know their stuff. Although the summit is over, you can follow them on facebook. The things I learned on the summit and in my association and learning with Ahlea Khadro, has really helped me to stay motivated in changing the way I eat and care for my body. It was very timely!

I have to give a shout out for my dear friend Ahlea. She is an amazing women and I feel so privileged to have her in my world. In my search for “how to eat”, and “live” (which has been VERY confusing) in a world with so many philosophies, her simple ways really resonates with me, and maybe they will with you as well.

I love the book she coauthored with Louise Hay and Heather Dane LOVING YOURSELF TO GREAT HEALTH. It is chuck full of wisdom on how to love yourself in a way to create health, happiness and longevity. It has tips for menus, recipes, affirmations, and exercises to help support a healthy balanced life. LOVE IT! I hope you will check it out.

So now that I have completed my detox, I am going to continue to eat as clean as I can. This means listening to my body more closely and giving it what it needs, instead of what everyone else thinks it needs. This does not mean that I am going to be vegan, vegetarian, or paleo, I am simply going to reduce animal products a lot, only eat dairy occasionally and keep eating more live plant based foods and avoid processed foods as much as possible.

Going over my symptoms before I started the detox and I how I feel now, there have been some significant changes occur. Nothing life shattering, but good enough to say that I would do it again in a heart beat. Do you want to know what they are?

Here are some of the improvements:

  • No more acid reflux
  • No more stiff and achy feet in the morning
  • Hardly any joint stiffness and aches
  • Less sacroiliac joint pain
  • No low back pain
  • Less swelling in hands, face & feet
  • Hardly any brain fog and sick head feeling
  • Not as depressed, more hopeful and content!
  • Hardly any abdominal fullness
  • No more sinus congestion
  • Less fatigue
  • Scratches and things seem to be healing a lot faster.
  • No more sore stomach in the mornings

Who knows what my platelet count is? I will follow up with some blood work soon and let you know if things have changed from the Lupus profile as well. I am still experiencing hypertension, which I really thought the diet would take care of, but now I know it is something else and will continue to search for the root cause of that.

This will be my last post about the detox and about food for a bit. Thanks for hanging in there with me. Has anyone else out there done a cleanse before?  What did you do and how did it effect you? I would love for you to share!

If you are considering cleaning it up a little with a detox, I highly recommend it! I am excited to move forward now with my new way of thinking and being!

LIVE, LAUGH , EAT WELL & PLAY!
